Job Introduction

East Durham College is looking for an experienced and motivated Trainer Assessor to join our Apprenticeships and Work-Based Learning team.

About the Role

As a Trainer Assessor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, engaging apprenticeship training to learners in the Golf Greenkeeping and Sports Turf sectors. You’ll support apprentices throughout their journey — from initial onboarding and skills scanning, right through to Gateway and End Point Assessment.

Working closely with apprentices and employers, you will design tailored training plans, conduct regular reviews, and ensure all learning is relevant, industry-aligned, and delivered to an excellent standard.


What You’ll Do

  • Deliver engaging, sector-relevant training aligned with apprenticeship standards
  • Conduct skills scans, onboarding, and create Individual Training Plans
  • Carry out regular 1:1 reviews, tracking progress and setting clear goals
  • Work collaboratively with employers to shape training to their business needs
  • Ensure accurate recording of learner progress on digital platforms
  • Prepare learners for Gateway and their End Point Assessment
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with employers and stakeholders
  • Contribute to quality assurance, curriculum development, and continuous improvement


What We’re Looking For

Essential:
✔ Level 3 vocational qualification in a relevant discipline
✔ GCSE English & maths (Grade C/4+)
✔ Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards)
✔ Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, D32/33 etc.)
✔ Industry experience in Golf Greenkeeping / Sports Turf
✔ Experience delivering or assessing apprenticeships
✔ Knowledge of relevant apprenticeship standards
✔ Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills

Desirable:
• IQA qualification
• Experience using digital learning/assessment platforms such as OneFile or Smart Assessor
